The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

The story takes place in a little village in India. A problem that the main character had was the whole village got ill. She had to go and stay with other people in the village because her mother and father passed away from the illness. An important part of the book was when the officers found her all alone in the room. Mary had to go and live with her mean uncle. She went to her uncles place,  on the train with her uncles housekeeper. Mary has been given a skipping rope. She loves skipping around the garden with her new skipping rope. She has become friends with Ben Weatherstaff and his little robin. The robin showed Mary the key to the secret garden that had once been her aunties garden. The next day the robin showed her the door covered in swinging ivy and the key that Mary had found fit the key hole. She slipped in throught the door and she weeded and took care of the garden. She got called into her uncles room and got permission to have the peice of earth she had hoped for.Dickon came and helped her with the garden and now it is all beautiful and she loves spending her day in the secret garden.I recommmend this book for the ages of 11 and up.
